Rock ‘n’ roll was on the jukebox, car hops were popular and rolled up blue jeans were
preferred dress. And the Chevy Bel Air was on the road.
The Bel Air was a lynchpin in the Chevrolet stable of cars from 1950 to 1975. But it’s hard to
imagine a car that defines a generation more than the 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air. Hip, cool and an
instant classic, this is the car that comes to mind when most people think of the ‘50s.
The Chevy Bel Air had already been in production for about three years, but in 1953 the company made
changes in the body style, paint scheme and windshield. Carpet and wheel covers became standard rather

model series.

Chevy added a V8 option with an overhead valve— an engine that would be popular for decades
thanks to its long-stoke design. Additionally, many changes were made to both the interior and
exterior design.
Now, car enthusiasts everywhere remain devoted to the ‘55 Chevy, and we’re proud to offer
this classic piece of automotive history as a vintage car rental— but with a twist.
Into the Future
Recently upfitted to a modern GM 4-speed automatic transmission (Heavy Duty 700-R4) with overdrive and
retro floor shifter, our Bel Air is even more fun to drive than its stock cousins.
Built by Monster Transmissions, this upgrade ensures added ease of handling, better torque and better
fuel efficiency.
It’s hard to improve on a classic, but we’ve done it. This car is a beauty to look at, and
even better to drive.
